It never ceases to amaze me that one so small can leave such a big hole in your life. Sometimes I think that 60% of my job is being a therapist to people who have lost a 4-legged family member. Some people call me within hours of losing their dog and others take many years before they are ready for a new little baby pup. There is no “right” amount of time, just the right amount of time for you. If you bring another pup into your family, you aren’t forgetting your deceased pet, or not being loyal.
There is nothing that can take the pain away but there are a few things that I always come back to when I’m grieving a fur baby.
I have a few different kinds of memorials for my “heart dogs”. All sent to me by friends and or clients. They have made wonderful gifts that helped me to grieve in a healthy way.
